Product Design

Context

Design a commemorative piece for the 15th anniversary of the Institut Pasteur of Montevideo. A tangible object that represents the institution's journey and translates its identity into a lasting format.

Strategy

We took the institute's own visual system as our starting point. The idea was to construct a piece that materializes the passage of time, linking form, meaning, and anniversary in a single object.

Implementation

We designed a wooden statuette made up of 15 alternating sheets of guatambú and mahogany wood, one for each year of the institution's existence. Through a handcrafted carpentry process developed by Claudio Marcel Fontes Correa, the pieces are curved to create an organic form that reflects the institution's visual identity. The object is conceived as a whole, designed to be viewed from multiple perspectives, where each angle reveals a different interpretation of the entire piece.

Result

A unique piece that encapsulates history and identity. A commemorative object that connects the symbolic with the material and translates the anniversary in a lasting way.

"To celebrate the institute's 15th anniversary, we asked the Redondo team to design a statuette to give to the scientists who had been with us since the founding. The experience was excellent. They were able to translate an idea into a piece that takes care of every detail, with great sensitivity and quality of execution."
